Western Culinary Institute Named National School of Distinction
Portland, OR – September 26, 2007 – Western Culinary Institute today announced it has been recognized by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) as a 2006-2007 School of Distinction. The college, located in downtown Portland, will be honored at the ACCSCT Annual Professional Development Conference at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco, California, October 4-5.
“This is a great honor for our chef instructors and faculty,” said Wendy Bennett, Western Culinary Institute’s interim president. “We are very proud of our programs and this distinction validates our work, commitment and passion for education in the culinary arts and hospitality management.”
Western Culinary Institute is associated with the Paris cooking school, Le Cordon Bleu, and offers an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree and diploma in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts and Le Cordon Bleu Pâtisserie and Baking. The school also offers an AOS degree in Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality & Restaurant Management.
The ACCSCT School of Distinction Award recognizes member schools that have demonstrated a commitment to the expectations and rigors of ACCSCT accreditation, as well as a commitment to delivering quality educational programs to the students, graduates and employers.
Through this award, it is the Commission’s intent to recognize the importance of this significant achievement, including completing the accreditation process without stipulation and having been timely in the submission of the fees and reports required of an ACCSCT accredited institution.
Western Culinary Institute and its sister school, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Miami, will join 26 schools at this year’s special “School of Distinction” ceremony in San Francisco.
