Breakfast Places in Chicago
Chicago is a hip, fast-paced city where something is always going on. For those always on the go in Chicago or just paying a visit, there is quite the variety of different places for you to go get some delicious breakfast. And, since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it’s a good idea to make sure you eat something fantastic. This article has the inside track on some of the best places to catch an early bite to eat, or a leisurely brunch with friends on the weekend. Check out all of the places on this list if you have the chance, or, if you are just in town for a short stay, make sure to get to at least one.
Ann Sather’s
Located in Lake View, Ann Sather’s serves a combination of Swedish and American cuisine. Renowned for exquisite tasting cinnamon rolls, Ann Sather’s restaurant also has a wide variety of other great dishes. Try their Swedish pancakes that are cooked thin and chocked full of lingonberries, or other more traditional breakfast dishes like omelets and French toast. Ann Sather’s can get very busy, especially on weekends, so it’s a good idea to get there early, or at least plan on waiting a bit (it’s well worth it). If you can, try to get a seat in the front room, which is open and inviting with high vaulted ceilings and a fireplace that stays lit during the wintertime.
Ina’s
Ina’s is located in West Loop, Chicago, and is a fantastic local gem, often frequented by regulars from the surrounding area. It’s a good idea to make reservations in advance, since things can get quite busy, and waits can be long. Constructed of exposed wood beams and brick, the simple yet tasteful décor accentuates the delicious food that follows a similar aesthetic. Be sure and try the Heavenly Hots pancakes and the vegetable hash. Ina’s has been open since 1991, and has enjoyed a long and celebrated existence, which has kept its loyal customers coming back time and time again over the years.
Tweet is another great breakfast place to try in Chicago. They’re closed on Tuesday, but are open the rest of the week from 9 AM until 3 PM. Tweets has chosen to focus on using organic ingredients, so this is the perfect place for anyone looking to make sure they are eating the healthiest foods, fruits and vegetables. Dishes to be sure and try include: Robert Steigler’s Favorite Organic Buckwheat Pancakes, the Grilled Pork Chop and Eggs, and especially the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs.
The Possibilities are Near Endless
The restaurants listed above are some of the favorites picked out by local Chicago residents, but there are countless other places for you to discover and try as well. This is just one of the many reasons that Chicago is one of the best breakfast cities in the country, so be sure and sample everything you can!
