Las Vegas: On Set: Off the Beaten Path: Best Hidden Restaurants in Nevada
Las Vegas is recognized for having the most lavish restaurants and star quality cuisine in the country, dwarfing the restaurant scene in surrounding Nevada. But as we all know, sometimes it’s the lesser known, hole in the wall joints that truly offer the best dining experience. These hidden gems may be hard to find, but the thrill of the hunt can make for a more enjoyable dining experience. So travel off the beaten path with us and discover the 5 best local eating spots in Nevada.
#5: Red’s Old 395 Grill: Carson City doesn’t take itself too seriously, and neither does this family friendly steak house. With an upbeat vibe and a lively service staff, Red’s is a great place to go with a big, raucous group. Menu items are a bit more expensive than a typical grill, but the food makes up for the price. Meat-heavy dishes are paired with a heaping of veggies, and there are even platter-size options made to feed four. Red’s is a great place to share a jovial dinner with friends and family.
#4: Johnny’s Ristorante Italiano: One of the few Reno restaurants not located inside a casino, this traditional Italian eatery boasts one of the most scenic spots in town. Enjoy your spaghetti with a view of a quaint, trickling creek and beautiful desert landscape. Johnny’s is known for its home-made pasta and extensive wine list, featuring the finest reds and whites from nearby California vineyards and Italian vintage blends. If you’re looking for a fuss-free night and food that’s tried and true, Johnny’s Italian is a sure bet.
#3: Bonefish Grill: In Nevada, good seafood is not always easy to find. Bonefish Grill, located in the city of Henderson, is a great option for fish lovers. This restaurant is a great getaway from the casino scene, and romantic enough for a low-key wedding anniversary. Try the Pan Asian Ahi Tuna for an entrée and end the night with the gooey, sinful flourless chocolate cake. Bonefish is praised for their quality service and spectacular presentation, which makes it a superb dinner spot for people looking to be wowed.
#2: Gisela’s Café & Deli: Located in the discreet town of Pahrump, Gisela’s German cuisine offers a truly unique dining experience in the desert. From hearty sausages to Saurbraten with red cabbage and spaetzlehe, this full German menu is authentic to the core. The charming subtleties of this little known deli give it a warm and inviting atmosphere, but the savory German delicacies make it memorable.
#1: Off The Strip—Just Real Food: We couldn’t mention great Nevada restaurants without at least going in the vicinity of Las Vegas. South of the bright lights and just off the strip is an old worldly hole in the wall – except it’s not a hole, rather, but a secret, atmospheric den waiting to be discovered. Not snooty or pretentious, Off The Strip is worshiped for their signature lamb chops, flank steak and killer cheesecake. But perhaps the most inviting aspect is the energy surging through the kitchen and wait staff, which treats each customer like their long lost cousin.
