The four students, chosen at random from all who signed up, were paired up with one chef instructor each to compete in today's Iron Chef competition put together by our Student Ambassadors.
Team "Swine is Fine" consisted of Chef Paul Folkestad, Kris Kollman, and Josh Cook. Team "Botulism" consisted of Chef Luke Becker, Jody Collins, and Lindsey Kollman. Student Ambassadors, Mike Hargett and James Robas MC'd the event.
Each team had to put together dishes that included the "secret ingredient" in some fashion. In the middle of their alotted time to do this, they were quizzed on ServeSafe questions and asked to perform certain cuts before they could move on to finish their dish.
Judges, Katie Vaughan, Chef Matt Kuerbis, and "Celebrity" Chef Brock Willis - Executive Chef at Southpark Restaurant, evaluated the participants on their final presentations. Chef Sadie Damon watched carefully to ensure participants followed proper sanitation guidelines and if not were docked points.
After careful deliberation, "Team Botulism" came out ahead by a narrow margin.
Congratulations, "Team Botulism" on your success! And a big thanks to all the Student Ambassadors who helped put on the event!
