You may know that Austin, TX is known as the "Live Music Capital of the World." The annual SXSW Music and Media conference showcases hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over eighty stages throughout downtown Austin.

But did you know that, outside of its rich music scene, Austin hosts an excellent array of food festivals as well. From tons of Louisiana crawfish to superb Hill Country wines to everybody’s favorite, chocolate, Austin has a food festival guaranteed to make you proud to be a Texan.

Each year these events bring Austin chefs together to showcase the talents of the culinary professionals in this eclectic and diverse city. As a culinary student these festivals are an excellent opportunity to search for new Austin chef jobs. Stop by, taste the food, and pick up all the business cards you can get your hands on.

  • Taste of Austin
    The annual Taste of Austin showcases top Austin chefs, area restaurants, caterers, and hotels. The concept is simple; allow food lovers the chance to explore the incredible variety of flavors and restaurants served up in one event.
  • Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival
    Established in 1986, the Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival is the oldest and largest wine and food festival in the Lone Star state. The event features Texas chefs and Texas food producers, restaurants, wineries and craft brewers complemented by cooking demonstrations, cook book signings, children's activities and live music.
  • The Louisiana Swamp Thing and Crawfish Festival
    This popular Louisiana themed event features the best in Louisiana cuisine prepared by concessionaires from Louisiana and Texas. Enjoy an extensive menu of Cajun seafood. The highlight of the show is 6000 pounds of jumbo crawfish and other bayou favorites.
  • Austin Wine Festival
    The Texas Hill Country is quickly making a name for itself in the international wine community. Austin’s finest chefs gather with Austin area winemakers for a food and wine sampling that is not to be missed
  • The Austin Chocolate Festival
    This chocolate lovers event consists of local chocolatiers and chocolate artisans including Austin chefs, restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, patisseries, authors, and catering companies.  Vendors compete against each other in several categories, offer samples to festival guests, and sell their products.
