Where is the Best Culinary Bookstore in America

Sure there are plenty of bookstores out there, you have your “big box” bookstores and your online bookstores, but if you are truly a fan of culinary arts and cooking, you want to find a bookstore that specializes in Culinary books.  To find the best is difficult, so here are seven that you need to know about if you are truly a culinary enthusiast.

Amber Unicorn – Las Vegas, Nevada

With a collection of over 16,000 culinary titles in stock, this small bookstore located just west of the famous strip, holds the culinary lovers perfect library for any cuisine.  Some famous titles include, The Duchess of Duke Street Entertains, and first-edition copy of The Brazilian Cookbook from 1965.

Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks – New York City

This West Village shop is filled wall-to-wall with an eclectic collection of out of print cookbooks, issues of Gourmet, and plenty of guides to etiquette and cocktail crafting. With over 4,000 titles in stock you have a wide variety of choosing. The toughest decision is what decade to choose from. 

Heirloom Book Company – Charleston, South Carolina

One of the best in the culinary world, visit this shop to find one of your favorite classic cookbooks, an old kitchen tool for decoration, or join in on a Sunday supper featuring cuisine from one of the many guest chefs. Chef/Owner Sean Brock brings his true passion for culinary arts to his bookstore.

Kitchen Arts & Letters – New York City

Located on the Upper Eastside in New York City, this is the place to go for thousands of titles both food and wine related. Find everything from Julia Child’s famous, Joy of Cooking new titles and even special collection of rare cookbooks that the owner won’t sell to just anyone. 

Kitchen Witch Cookbooks – New Orleans, Louisiana

This legendary cookbook shop, will give you some of the most famous Cajun cookbooks and many more. Enriched in the Cajun culture even if you don’t find a book you like, you’ll still walk away with hints on where to find some of the best food in New Orleans.

Omnivore Books on Food – San Francisco, California

Find the classics we all know and love along with some of the newest best sellers at Omnivore.  Some rarities on the shelves include, a first edition of Silver Jubilee Cook Book, and D.I.Y Delicious, Ideas in Food.  Find the ultimate guide for California Cuisine, The Zuni Café Cookbook.
