How to Make a Pastry Puff Crust
When it comes to baking, many people think they simply have what it takes or they don’t. But even if your skills leave much to be desired, if you have the passion to bake, the skills will come to you with time and practice. Some find it may be helpful to enroll in a baking program, while others may choose to enroll in a specific class or program at a Texas Culinary school like Le Cordon Bleu. If you aren’t sure where to start, try this recipe from Chefs.com for a puff pastry tart to get you started.
Ingredients:
8 sheets frozen pastry crust thawed
4 lb. cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
5 tablespoons orange peel
16 cups strawberries – diced
16 oranges – cut in half and sliced
16 kiwi fruit – peeled and sliced
4 cups orange marmalade
Step One: Preheat oven to 400 F. While oven is warming, unroll pastry crust onto a lightly floured surface while rolling into a 14x10 inch rectangle.
Step Two: Transfer onto a baking sheet next while brushing the sides with water. Fold up half an inch on all sides of the pan so that a rim of the dough is formed around the pan.
Step Three: Poke holes in the pastry with a fork and allow to bake for 15 minutes or until the crust beings to turn a golden color.
Step Four: While the pastry is cooling, allow mix the filling ingredients in a bowl and then spread onto the dough.
Step Five: Top the pastry with the fruit and drizzle with marmalade. Refrigerate and serve when ready.
Once you have mastered this recipe, perhaps baking classes can help you modify the recipe so that you are able to make your own crust rather than staring with a frozen, pre-made one. If this recipe is enjoyable to you, you may want to think about taking classes at a Texas Culinary school like Le Cordon Bleu.
