Dinner and a Movie: A Romantic Dinner Inspired by the Movies
How do you plan the perfect romantic dinner date? You could go to a restaurant and catch a movie after is nice, – a standard in the date playbook – surprising your date with a romantic dinner you made that’s inspired by the movie you’ll be watching is true romance. How do you decide what movie to watch and what meal to prepare? Here are a few romantic movie and dinner ideas that can help.
The Notebook
The incredible romantic movie “The Notebook” takes you through a timeless relationship and story of true love and romance. This southern love story features many romantic meals but one of the key scenes is when Noah and Ali reunite. The featured meal is a crab boil, prepare the crab anyway you like and be sure to include the hot sauce. After the main crab course, settle in with ice cream, popcorn and beer and spend the evening watching this romantic classic. If you really want to push the romance meter arrange for a pre-dinner canoe ride.
Lady and the Tramp
A timeless classic that may seem like an odd choice, but it’s a Disney love story and how can you go wrong with a Disney love story? This tale of beauty meets tramp features perhaps one of the most famous eating scenes between two dogs in film history. Of course, for you the menu is relatively easy. Set the scene with a red and white-checkered tablecloth, wine bottle with breadsticks and nice romantic Italian soundtrack. Dim the lights and create a salad for starters and a generous plate of spaghetti and meatballs to share between the two of you. If you want truly play the scene a skillfully placed fork and noodle you too could share that infamous noodle and kiss scene. Be sure to include plenty of meatballs. Follow up your pasta with a delightful Tiramisu. To add to the romance plan a dinner outside followed by a nice stroll through the park.
Before Sunset
Experience love at first sight. This romantic movie will allow you to pretend that you have one night with the person you love. Act as if this is it, your chance to have the best night of your life. The couple have a chance meeting in Austria so your meal will feature Austrian cuisine. Try Pork Goulash, slow roasted pork shoulder, a sauce enriched in garlic, caraway seeds, and sweet paprika. A nice romantic soundtrack and wine will have you and your date in love at first sight all over again.
Take dinner and a movie a step further and try to recreate some of the most romantic dinner scenes in film. Try one of these meals and make it an unforgettable evening of romance.
