Gina Cruz needs your vote to win a $10,000 scholarship and a trip to Olive Garden’s Italian Culinary School!
Gina is a Culinary Arts student in the Spanish Diploma program. Gina started at Le Cordon Bleu Orlando in July, 2010, and she is now 1 week away from her externship. A few months ago, Gina found an opportunity to win a scholarship while looking at the local Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. She entered the video essay contest Cocinando Un Sueno put on by Univision and Olive Garden, and two weeks ago Gina was selected as a finalist and received a $1,500 scholarship. Now, she needs votes from the public to help her win the grand prize. Voting is open now until Feb. 6th!

My name is Gina Cruz. I am from Puerto Rico, and reside in Kissimmee, Florida. I am a Culinary Arts student. Ever since arriving in this country, I have had the American dream on my mind. I did not come here to ask, I came here to give! To give my time, in a big way!
I have made many sacrifices along the way, by working and going to school. It hasn’t been an easy task, but I know I can do it! I want the opportunity to contribute to the community and to this country. If other people have reached their dreams, I know that I can, also! I want to be a part of that group of Hispanic achievers who have been triumphant in the Culinary Arts.
This is why I decided to attend one of the best Culinary Arts schools in the world. My dream is to be recognized as one of the best and most prestigious Chefs in the world and to proudly raise a Chef’s Career as one of the top professions.
I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me. If I do not win, I will be forever thankful and will cherish all the memories for the rest of my life.
