Hurricane Sandy - Where New York and New Jersey Locals are Eating Since the Super Storm

As the holiday season quickly approaches, there are still many people displaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. In an effort to do their part to aid their neighbors, dozens of restaurants in the New York and New Jersey are donating a portion of their proceeds to Hurricane Sandy Relief. Visit one of these eateries and don’t forget to be generous when tipping the servers and bartenders. Many of these eateries have some great dining and meals prepared by graduates of several schools for culinary arts! Even cooking schools are helping donate proceeds to the victims. Enjoy!

The restaurants of ESquared Hospitality: BLT Burger, BLT Fish, BLT Bar & Grill and Casa Nonna are giving five percent of sales to relief. Customers can drop off donations for hurricane victims and grab a bit to eat while they are there. Whether it is the finest in seafood, a taste of Italy, the perfect burger or something light at the bar, there is something to excite your taste buds in the ESquared Hospitality chain. The atmosphere at all of their restaurants is light, stylish and cozy and the food delicious and straight from some of the top school for culinary arts classes.

Il Buco is a charming little restaurant off the cobblestone on Bond Street. What was once an antique store has become one of the most sought after restaurants in New York. Enjoy their signature Porchetta Panino or the Maiale, a delicious pork blade steak, cast iron roasted to perfections served with pears and mustard greens. Dinner is just not complete without dessert! If you live for chocolate, then the Torta di Cioccolato is highly recommended and even possibly to die for! Savor these dishes and more with one of 400 wines on the list.

Christos Steakhouse in Queens Astoria serves Mediterranean style cuisine featuring a wide range of Greek inspired dishes and some not so Greek. Seafood lovers will find the Raw Bar pleasing as well as the delicious entrees of broiled Bronzini and roasted Sea Scallops satisfying to say the least. Christos’ selections from the grill features prime meats including lamb, chicken, and center cut pork chops and beef. The atmosphere is casual, warm and inviting.

Bahrs Landing, on Bay Avenue in New Jersey has been serving the best in seafood for over ninety years. Hurricane Sandy may have slowed them down, but they are open and ready to serve the community. Select lunch and dinner entrees include fresh fish, featuring Yellowtail Flounder; shrimp, crabmeat, clams, lobster and oysters. Enjoy one of the wines from the comprehensive wine list to compliment your meal.

Undici Restaurant on West River Road in Rumson New Jersey is open for dinner. Step inside Undici and you are immediately transported to an Italian bistro. Relish the delightful dishes of pastas, meats and fish. Select from one of 350 wines on the list to add to your meal. If you decide your interest in culinary arts is something you would like to pursue, you may be interested in attending classes at one of the cooking schools in Washington.
