Using Food to Get and Keep Your Guests Talking
You’ve planned your menu, purchased the wine and invited the guests, your work should be done but one of the hardest things about having a successful party is to get your guest talking and keep them talking, for what is a party without socialization. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is let the food get the talking for you. Whether you play a food based game or wow them with a cheese tasting here are just a few ways that you can use your menu to entertain your guests and get them to open up with one another.
Cheese Tasting
This makes a great social stimulator for an afternoon party. Serve up a bottle of your favorite wine and lay out a tray laden with a variety of cheeses. Ask your guests to sample each of the cheeses and guess whether it is made from cow, sheep or goat milk and what region it came from. People will naturally start consulting one another for opinions and the ice will be broken before you know it. Keep the wine flowing and everyone is sure to be best friends before your event is over.
Pizza Making Party
Anytime you can get your guests involved in the kitchen you will have a much easier time getting them talking to one another. Make up several pizza crusts ahead of time and dishes of sauce, cheese and a variety of toppings. Put your guests in pairs and ask them to assemble a pizza of their choosing. Making food together will get them to discuss what types of toppings they like and share some of their favorite pizza experiences. If you would like to learn more about making homemade pizza crust California culinary schools offer baking classes that you would find highly enjoyable.
Don’t be Afraid to put Your Guests to Work
Sometimes the easiest way to make your guests feel at home and get them talking is to put them to work. Ask your guests to ask other party goers if they would like a glass of wine or an appetizer. Don’t hesitate to ask your guests to help arrange a vegetable platter or dessert tray. Engaging them in what you are doing in the kitchen is a great way to peak their interest in what you are cooking and get them talking to the other people at your get together.
If you are passionate about the culinary arts and baking classes and wish to share that passion with others you may want to consider enrolling in one of the many excellent California culinary schools. Where you can learn a variety of recipes and techniques for your next party or get together.
