Halloween Treats You Can Make with the Kids

The holidays are always a great chance to cook or back with your kids while letting your inner kid come out to play too. However,  when holidays come around many parents go out of their way to find creative ideas that will put a smile on any child’s face but don’t stress – if you are feeling a bit of creativity lacking this season, we will  help you out by reminding you of some of the basics. If you want to go all out for Halloween, you might want to check out the specialized classes taught at the school of culinary arts near you.

Popcorn Balls
These can be purchased at any store but are way better when they are homemade (and it’s a lot more fun too!). They also have very few ingredients which make them a cheap treat to create just expect lots of sticky fingers afterwards! There are of course more in-depth recipes but the basics typically include corn syrup, popcorn, marshmallows, sugar, water and corn syrup.

Chocolate Pops
Another fun thing you can do is make Halloween chocolate pops. You can find the molds for these at almost any craft store. All you will need for these is the colorful chocolate and the molds. These can be a lot of fun and you can also pass them out to other children on Halloween.

Rice Crispy Treats
Halloween colored rice crispy treats is also a fun treat to create. You would go about making these the same way you would normally. The only thing you would do different is add a little food coloring in the melted marshmallows. Rice crispy treats are fun to make on their own but adding food coloring just makes them so much more creative.

Halloween Decorated Cookies
A simple Halloween treat you can make is Halloween cookies! There are many creative ways to make these. If you are looking for a quick and easy way you can purchase the place and back cookies from your refrigerated section. If you are trying to go all out you can make the cookie and then decorate them. Decorating the cookies in a Halloween fashion can make these cookies so much more fun to create. You can use things like sprinkles, colored icing, and almost anything that is edible. One last fun idea you can do is to make homemade candy corn. This can be a hard thing to do but there are many fun recipes out there for you to do this.

These are just a few fun Halloween ideas you can do at home with your children. Every child loves to celebrate Halloween, so why not do it with baking? In fact, you never know what may stay with them as a hobby or a passion later. Maybe you will have a future student at a school of culinary arts near you when they are older. You can find many other ideas and recipes online or in cook books with a little research or you can take a class at one of the many Missouri culinary schools near you. Next time you are trying to come up with something to do with your kids for Halloween why not try making creative treats!
