Le Cordon Bleu- Atlanta supports local farmers!

October 12, 2011 Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta, General 0 Comments

This past Sunday, October 2, Chef Instructors Gina Melita and Amy Ponzoli guided seven culinary students (Tahorah Benyamin, Quaneshia Davis, Michael Gray, Kimberlin Jackson, Stephanie McClinton, Dennis Moore, and Tiina Parlas) at the Field of Greens Festival in Covington, GA in the “Meals from the Market” event. “Meals from the Market” is an exciting new feature at Field of Greens that gives families an opportunity to connect with local organic farmers and sample fall vegetables currently found at area farmers markets. Guests were able to talk to the farmer who grew the produce and meet the students, all from the Slow Food Convivium at Le Cordon Bleu Atlanta, who prepared it. The recipes were family-friendly dishes that were sure to please both kids and parents. Guests took home recipe cards with information about the farmer and markets where they sell their produce every week.

Field of Greens is a yearly festival intended to celebrate and feature local farms, and includes a legendary Chef's Tent --this year featuring 30 of Atlanta and Athens' best farm to table chefs—an interactive Kid's Village, local music, festival market and craft demonstrations, and an “F' n' Chef” Competition that pits three local chefs in an Iron Chef-like competition judged by local food culture celebrities.
