AUSTIN, Texas (September 5, 2008) – In celebration of Asian cuisine, Texas Culinary Academy (TCA) is partnering with the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce (TACC) to host the third annual Asia Food Fest September 5–7. This three-day event will be held at TCA, where students and guests will have the chance to experience flavors of the east.

All proceeds from Asia Food Fest will benefit an orphanage for Thailand's tsunami victims and The Arc of Texas, which is the oldest and largest non-profit, volunteer organization in Texas that is committed to creating opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The festival will offer attendees an opportunity to enjoy Asian cooking demonstrations and Iron Chef-style competitions, explore TCA's Asian marketplace and gain knowledge about Le Cordon Bleu culinary programs. Expert chefs from Thailand, India and China will be present at the event and will provide personal insight into Asian cooking.

"While our Le Cordon Bleu programs are built on French tradition, our students graduate with skills that are essential for future opportunities," said TCA Chef Kevin Quinn. "We are proud to be a part of an event that celebrates the incredibly rich and diverse worlds of Asian cuisine."

TCA chefs and students will present an eight-course "Pacific Sake Dinner" in TCA's Ventana Restaurant from 6–9 p.m. Asian traditions and techniques from Le Cordon Bleu join forces with Texacali Wine Company to pair different varieties of sake with each course to provide a unique experience for every guest's palate. Cost per person is $75.

Hands-on Asian cooking classes for both adults and children will be available from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Adult classes are $15 per class, $50 for all day, and children's classes cost $10.

TCA's demonstration kitchen will host free Asian ingredient seminars presented by local farmers and experts in Asian cuisine on Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Chefs will go head-to-head in the "Iron Chef Contest" at TCA. Contenders will be judged by local food experts, media representatives and Central Texas celebrity chefs. More than 15 local restaurants will host booths sampling their fare.

The event is open to the public however reservations are required for various cooking demonstrations. Entrance to this event is $35.
