Living around Los Angeles opens the door to the best of the west coast - great weather, sunny beaches, spectacular shopping, cutting edge cuisine, alternative lifestyles, endless recreational and cultural options, and every fashion taste - from the couture style of Rodeo Drive to the street chic of Melrose Avenue. Our school has two campuses, in Hollywood and Pasadena, within easy access to Southern California's innovative dining scene. The LA campus is in the legendary heart of the movie industry, and the campus in Pasadena (birthplace of Julia Child) is in a fashionable and artistic community with a large student population in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains.
The LA area is a crossroads of cultures and cuisines and boasts many of the top restaurants in the country as well as a multitude of ethnic eateries. The city is heavily influenced by the cuisine of Mexico and Central America. As part of the Pacific Rim, LA's culinary culture also includes Asian specialties. There are sushi bars throughout the city and also clustered in downtown Japantown. Koreatown is filled with kim chi and delicacies far beyond the well-known Korean BBQ. Thai Town features markets and affordable curries, soups and spicy meats, just minutes away from Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Suburbs like Monterey Park boast the best noodle houses this side of Shanghai. Seafood? LA hauls theirs in from local beaches. Classic Californian? LA invented it. The street food/food truck experience of LA is a whole other world - and at the historic LA Farmer's Market, students could rub elbows with top chefs and movie stars shopping for fresh local produce.(1)
