Five Can’t Miss Mother’s Day Brunches in Austin

While every day is great opportunity to thank mom for all that she does for your family, Mother’s Day is the perfect day for brunch. With its mix of breakfast, lunch, and pâtisserie brunch is a decadent treat that any mom will enjoy. With the high level of culinary arts in Austin, brunch is an eclectic mix both high- and low-brow foods sure to delight mom on her special day. We’ve picked these can’t miss brunch spots in Austin for you to consider this year.

Lamberts Downtown Barbecue

Any self-respecting list of restaurants in Texas, regardless of the occasion, must start with barbecue. To some, barbecue is the first and last of the culinary arts in Austin. Lamberts prove that point in style. With so many greasy spoonand roadside barbecue joints in the Lone Star state, it’s nice to find a place that’s a little more upscale. Lamberts historic building and location right in the heart of downtown Austin only add to the class. Brunch includes both buffet and a la carte items. Mom can start off with the decadent thick cut brioche French toast finish up with Lamberts famous brown sugar & coffee rubbed brisket.

Chez Zee American Bistro

Owner Sharon Watkins had a dream of owning a restaurant that combined old world-style pastries and desserts with the casual charm of an American-style bistro. In 1988, she left the world of advertising and opened Chez Zee. Since then this charming Austin icon has combined a Parisian-style pâtisserie with a casual American-style menu. The brunch menu is so packed with delicious dishes that mom may have trouble figuring out where to begin. Any of the eggs benedict choices are excellent, as is the mouth-watering Maytag blueberry salad.

Green Pastures

This elegantly traditional Old South dining spot, complete with more than five acres of stress-free parking, offers 11am and 2pm sittings of their Mother's Day brunch buffet. Sip time-honored southern milk punch with bourbon, rum and brandy while strolling the grounds along with frolicking peacocks. Established in 1946 in a Victorian era farmhouse, Green Pastures has been delighting diners for nearly four generations.

Crú Food & Wine Bar

If mom is a budding gourmand cum sommelier, then Crú Food & Wine Bar is just the place for her this Mother’s Day.Crú offers an ever changingwine list that is available in tasting flights or by-the-glass. Their wine selection may only be rivaled by their incredible brunch choices. A delectable Mother’s day brunch could include steamed Prince Edward mussels followed by the shirred eggs with puff pastry prosciutto and brown sugar. The whole family should join in on one or two of their flights of artisan cheeses. Better yet, just order two bottles of mom’s favorite vino and a couple cheese flights and call it day.

Round Rock Donuts

They don’t serve brunch and they’re not in Austin, but this incredible donut shops makes the list anyway. Located 20 miles north of Austin in Round Rock, Round Rock Donuts has been a Texas tradition for over 70 years. Their specialty, the Round Rock Donut, is made fresh daily. These airy and chewy donuts are coated in a secret orange glaze that setsit apart from any other donut you’ve ever had. For Mother’s Day, we recommend the Texas-Sized Round Rock Donut. At nearly two pounds, you can buy one and share it with the whole family.
