Top 5 Restaurants in Pittsburgh

September 30, 2009 Le Cordon Bleu Pittsburgh 0 Comments

Pittsburgh, or the The ‘Burgh, is known for many things: bridges, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and last, but definitely not least, good food. While some might argue which restaurants are truly the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, the following five are some of the most popular.

Nakama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar
The casual atmosphere in this late 1800s building is trumped by its excellent menu of delicious sushi and steak dishes. Nakama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar first opened its doors to the South Side of Pittsburgh in 2003 by a couple who knows good Pittsburgh hospitality and restaurant management. The restaurant has earned more than a dozen awards including “Best Sushi” and “Best Service.”

The restaurant boasts the first smokeless hibachi tables in Pittsburgh and is staffed by several skilled hibachi chefs from Pittsburgh who wow the crowd with their knife throwing and fire sparking jobs.

Fiori’s Pizzaria
Fiori’s Pizzaria is open every day just like it has been for the last few decades at its Capital Avenue location. Pittsburgh is home to many locally owned hospitality establishments, but Fiori’s and its management is more than just local: they are part of a Pittsburgh landmark.

Serving delicious pizzas, salads, wings, and more, fans of Fiori’s Pizzaria talk about how the cheese is different here and how the crust is better than what you can find in New York. A family-friendly atmosphere where cash is the preferred method of payment, Fiori’s is a must-eat-at restaurant while in Pittsburgh.

Eat’n Park Restaurants
The Pittsburgh Eat’n Park is one of several restaurants in this regional chain, but still a favorite among residents. The reason might be because of Eat’n Park’s roots in Pittsburgh. This location is the original Eat’n Park location, which opened 60 years ago as the first-ever drive-in restaurant here.

While today you won’t find any carhops, you will find a jovial restaurant manager at this Pittsburgh hot spot.

Sonoma Grille
Located in Pittsburgh’s cultural district, the Sonoma Grille is inspired by Sonoma Valley, California, with menu flavors from all over the world. Foodies flock to Sonoma Grille to experience the top-notch wine selection and delicious cuisine, which varies from Mexican to Japanese to Middle Eastern to French.

The hospitality staff and the management at Pittsburgh’s Sonoma Grille know how to create an exquisite dining experience, which is why many diners enjoy lunch and dinner here.

Another Pittsburgh icon, LeMont is known for its unbeatable view of Pittsburgh. Located on the Mt. Washington peak, diners enjoy steak and seafood fare while looking out at Pittsburgh’s beautiful skyline and the ends of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers as they flow together to form the Ohio River.

The prices of LeMont menu items are on the high side, but it is still worth the visit to enjoy the culinary treats of the well-known Pittsburgh chef whose jobs are never done.
